The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.....

I am training for my second marathon this year with Team in Training! The incredible feeling of accomplishment I got when I crossed the finish line at the Disney Marathon in January has motivated me to do it again! San Diego...here I come!

Everyone wants to know..."Why do you do this to yourself? Run 26.2 miles...are you nuts??" No, I'm not nuts, just totally devoted! My patient hero from the Disney Marathon gave me a rock at our reunion party. He said it was a special rock and "thank you" and "I love you". Zachary gave all of us a rock that night! That rock means more to me than the coveted "Mickey medal" all Disney finishers get! That my friends is why I run! A rock from a little boy who is now well enough to dig up rocks for a whole team!!

This year I will be running in honor of 3 children. Hyatt is 6 years old, Lee is 8 years old, and my neighbor Elizabeth is just over a year old. These innocent children are fighting for their lives. Knowing what they are going through during their treatments makes my training aches and pains trivial at best!

I have made the commitment to train for and finish 26.2 miles at the Suzuki Rock and Roll Marathon in San Diego, California June 6, 2004. Please help cheer me on by sponsoring Hyatt, Lee, Elizabeth and myself. My goal is to raise $4500 by March 30th to help in the fight against blood related cancer.
